Clash at the Mag brings Cosner to Magnolia Motor Speedway

Matt Cosner made the trek to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) on Thursday afternoon to enter his LINE-X® No. 66c Late Model into battle for the 13th annual Optima Batteries Clash at the Mag. With 44 Late Models on hand for the event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) and the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Matt posted the fourth fastest time in his group but faded back in his heat to finish sixth. Scoring a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Spencer Hughes, Cosner locked into the 19th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature. With severe weather set to hit the area on Saturday afternoon, officials scratched Friday’s final preliminary feature and shifted the $12,000-to-win Clash at the Mag to Friday evening. Falling short of a transfer position in his heat race and B-Main, Cosner was granted a provisional into the main event. Rolling off 23rd, Matt improved four spots in the 50-lap affair to finish 19th.
