Hard charging Cosner finishes fourth in Rumble by the River at Port Royal

Thursday saw Matt Cosner return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned Melvin Joseph Memorial at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.).

After an early rain delay, Cosner edged his way into the $18,049-to-win A-Main with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Starting on the eighth row, Matt was an early retiree from the 49-lapper after folding the nose under his car.

The following night, Matt was one of 52 LOLMDS entries amassed at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the two-day Rumble by the River. With a fifth-place finish in his heat race pinning him 15th on the starting grid for his preliminary, Cosner gained four positions to finish 11th.

On Saturday, Cosner secured his spot into the $50,000-to-win Rumble by the River finale with a third-place showing in his heat. Rolling off 15th, Matt advanced through the field 11 spots in the 50-lap affair to register an impressive fourth-place finish. He claimed the hard charger honors behind Hudson O’Neal, Mike Marlar, and Jonathan Davenport with Brandon Overton coming in fifth.
