Matt Cosner attends Davenport Deal & Prairie Dirt Classic

A midwestern invasion for Matt Cosner kicked off on Monday afternoon with the first round of the Davenport Deal at Davenport (IA) Speedway.

Against a stout field of 34 XR Super Series entries, Cosner came in fifth in his heat before picking up a flag-to-flag victory in his B-Main. Slated to start the $15,000-to-win opener in 18th, Matt got collected in a multi-car tangle on the opening lap that brought a disappointing end to his evening.

After Tuesday’s Davenport Deal finale fell to inclement weather, Matt returned to competition on Wednesday at Fairbury (IL) Speedway for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America-sanctioned One for the Road. Following a ninth-place heat outing, Cosner elected to sit the remainder of the night out and prepare for the 14th annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.

With action resuming on Friday at the Illinois oval, Cosner qualified 23rd-fastest in his 39-car group aboard his R.H. Lapp Mechanical Contractors No. 66C Late Model. Starting his $5,000 preliminary feature in 12th, Matt was collected in another lap-one tangle that ended his night immediately.

Buried in his B-Main on Saturday, Matt made the decision to load up and save his equipment.
