World of Outlaws World Finals brings Cosner to Charlotte

Traveling from West Virginia to North Carolina, Matt Cosner was one of 74 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series competitors signed in at The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Wednesday to kick off the 17th annual World Finals with a pair of qualifying sessions.

With the field divided in two for both sets, Cosner recorded the 19th-fastest lap in both sessions.

After losing position in his heat race on Thursday, Matt failed to transfer out of his B-Main but was able to move forward three spots.

On Friday, Cosner’s 10th-place finish in his heat relegated him into one of three consolation races. Needing to place second or better to make the final $15,000-to-win preliminary feature, Matt made an impressive charge from 14th-to-3rd, missing a transfer spot by one car.

Matt’s bid for the $25,000-to-win World of Outlaws World Finals finale on Saturday drew to an early end after he followed up an eighth-place performance in his heat with a 10th-to-7th showing in his B-Main.
